EclipseCrossword 1.2.54

Download: EclipseCrossword (Size: 48 KB)

For any crossword fans out there, our only question is "Why wouldn't you download this fantastic, free program?" If you've ever had the yen to make your own puzzles, there's no rational answer.

EclipseCrossword is a free application that makes creating crossword puzzles ridiculously easy. Just give it a list of words and clues, and it gives you a crossword puzzle that you can save and share, print out for photocopying and distribution, and even save as a Web page for posting on the Internet. EclipseCrossword guides you through the entire process, which takes just seconds after entering your words.

The program uses a wizard-style interface to guide you through the steps of making your own crossword. The biggest requirement, of course, is a list of clues and answers. Once you've got the list of words you want to use, you'll define the size of your grid, and seconds later, you'll have a crossword. How many seconds is entirely up to you: set it as low as five seconds or as high as you can imagine. Aside from your limit, the time the program takes to create a puzzle obviously depends on the size and complexity of your word list. Both puzzles and word lists are saveable as Eclipse files or as HTML. Interactive crosswords can be created with Java or dHTML. Finally, your puzzles also can be exported as RTF, WMF, or EPS files. Eclipse is a great inspirational tool for creative puzzle makers or a complete solution for anyone who wants to make a basic crossword.
